The Battle of Normandy
What was D-Day?
D-day, also called "The Battle of Normandy," and "Operation: Overlord," was an invasion in Western Europe. The invasion was over a 50 mile stretched bay. After WWII began, Nazi Germany invaded and successfully took over France in May, 1940. The goal of D-Day was to liberate the prisoners in being held in the concentration camps and to take back France. Another goal of D-Day was to get a big step towards Germany's demise. D-Day was launced on the date of June 6th, 1944. D-Day has been the largest invasion recorded in history since and before June 6th 1944 ("D-Day 1-11"). |
